Winter is here bitches!! The long awaited final season of Game of Thrones approaches and at the urging of reader and wine train enthusiast, we are having a Cinema Soapbox Battle for the Iron Throne Bracket Style Showdown! Or CSBITBSS for short….or long…..or whatever. GET HYPE!!
Over the next few weeks, we will have showdowns between characters shown on the bracket above to determine who will sit on the Iron Throne. The showdown between them will be judged by their ability to play the game, fighting ability, overall belovedness (no that’s not a word, don’t look it up), and realistic chance to be standing (or sitting in this case) at the end of the series. Judging will be done by me and my whimsy. There will not be any spoilers for the upcoming season because I don’t know what will happen, just like you. Theories will abound, however, and I will be making some predictions on how this will shake out. I will undoubtedly be wrong on several things, but if you think you can do better then please come write with me. It’s very fulfilling and lucrative if you like being paid with pizza and enthusiastic handshakes.
You will notice that I have ranked Jon (secretly not a bastard) Snow as the tournaments overall number one seed. That is not an accident, but that was the hardest decision of the groupings. Dany has the strongest case right now, but there is a lot to unpack with Jon that made him take the top spot for me. If you have Dany as the top seed, then I wouldn’t fault you for it, she has a great starting position entering the final season. I also didn’t include Zombie Mountain here because while he is a freakishly strong fighter, this is about a drive to rule as much as anything and he doesn’t fall under that category. In all honestly, the initial bracket ranking was done as much as a means for reflection of character development over the entire series over legit chances to rule Westeros.
So buckle up and be here to share your thoughts and theories on how it all will shake out!
