The Soapbox Kid is now 10 years old and, like all good parents, we are making her watch 80’s movies in an attempt to make her childhood as good as ours. Emma will be here reviewing all of your 80’s favorites, with the exception of some rated R movies that she is too young for. You remember when I said we were good parents, right?
So you’ve been watching 80’s movies for a while, which one is your favorite? I don’t know.....The Goonies was really good....and I also like Can’t Buy Me Love, but this one was awesome!
So you liked Crocodile Dundee? Yes I did, it was funny and a good movie. He made a big bull lay down and two dogs stop from doing a thing with his hand. That was really cool!!!
Side note: The following day, House Soapbox took Emma to Fossil Rim to drive through and see the animals. 10 minutes in, Emma was reenacting the Mick Dundee make animals do what you want with your hand thing. She was hanging out of the side of the car testing her hand voodoo on an antelope in an attempt to have it eat from her hand. It turns out that she is related to me and not Mick because it did not work.
Who was your favorite character? Mick was my favorite, he was funny and could control animals. He didn’t know how to greet people or know where things are, so he would just crawl up on stuff to look around in the middle of a city.
What was the most 80’s thing about it? The crocodiles looked SOOO fake! A lot of stuff in 80’s movies look really fake and not as good as movies today.
That’s a good point, those are called special effects and they have gotten better over the years. BUT there are still some really good effects in the 80’s! Star Wars has great effects for it’s time. They should have tried some of that in this movie.
The actors that played Mick and Sue got married in real life and are still married today. How do you feel about that? That makes sense....maybe...I guess.
Would you watch this movie again? Probably. Is there a part 2?
There are 3 Crocodile Dundee movies total. We can absolutely watch part 2, but if you try to make me watch part 3 then I’m going to ground you. What?? Why??
Part 3 is in Los Angeles and it’s terrible. OK, but we can watch part 2?
On a scale from Totally Rad to Gag me With a Spoon, where does this movie rank? Totally rad (making a face for having to use the word rad)
